CREATING DESIGN WITH MEANINGFUL INTENT

Mauve Pagé is a senior lecturer in the publishing program, dedicated to student-led pedagogy, experimentation and challenging colonial ways of knowing in design education. Her commitment to fostering a non-traditional and culturally-inclusive learning space for students was recognized with a 2023 Excellence in Teaching Award.

ADVANCING RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

SFU vice-president research and international Dugan O’Neil is now the vice-president, research and innovation. The new title reflects changes in the portfolio and its role in mobilizing SFU’s research discoveries through a comprehensive innovation ecosystem.

 

CONVOCATION ASSISTANCE NEEDED

Convocation is a significant milestone for SFU graduands, their families and friends as well as the university community. Spring convocation is Tuesday, June 11 - Friday, June 14. There are eight ceremonies (two per day) and you can select your available times when you sign up to volunteer.

 

IT ServiceHub is revamped with a user-friendly layout and an updated list of services. Check out the go-to platform for all teaching, research and administrative IT requests and resources.

Please remind students that their voice matters and to complete their course experience surveys by April 12. By doing so, it provides information about student experiences of courses and instruction that can be used to improve course quality and teaching practices at SFU.

SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING EVENT

April 8 | Hosted by Trottier Observatory

Our region is expected to observe a partial solar eclipse and it is an amazing opportunity at SFU's Burnaby campus. Solar telescopes will be set up and solar eclipse eyeglasses will be available at the Trottier Observatory and Science Courtyard. Admission is free and pre-registration is not required. This event is weather dependent.
