PURSUING AFRICAN LITERATURE STUDIES

Williams Atanga began his university studies in Ghana where he studied French and Chinese. Now at SFU, he is a french department graduate student with a goal of teaching and conducting academic research. When Atanga was asked what black fluorishing means, he stated, "It involves breaking down barriers, creating opportunities for advancement and fostering an environment where every individual has the chance to thrive and reach their full potential."

SFU President Joy Johnson shares reflections on her presidency so far and makes the case that post-secondary education will be key to advancing a more inclusive and sustainable future for all of us.

CREATING COMMUNITY AT GLOBAL CONFERENCE

SFU’s formal delegation to COP 28 included student delegate and Beedie School of Business graduate student Tyler Mitchell. He had the opportunity to travel to Dubai and connect with other youth climate leaders, organize a meeting with B.C.'s Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy as well as champion Indigenous leadership in climate action.

CYCLING CONNECTION PROJECT

Do you cycle to/from SFU? The City of Burnaby is seeking input on the proposed conceptual designs for the Frances-Union Bikeway, Burnaby Mountain Parkway and Gaglardi Way, as development continues on the Vancouver to SFU Cycling Connection project.

 

Due to pipe installation work happening in the transit loop area, February 20-24, there will be significant, temporary changes to passenger drop off and pick-up locations. R5 passengers will be dropped off on Arts Road behind Saywell Hall and Blusson Hall and picked up east of Blusson Hall. For 145 bus service, pick up and drop off will be at Bay 2. Accessible paths to the AQ are indoors through Saywell Hall or outdoors along the south side of Blusson Hall. Please pay attention to signage in the area.

Starting February 25, SkyTrain service on the Production Way-University branch of the Expo Line will operate with a new service pattern until early 2026. 

Expo Line customers should allow extra travel time as it will impact service frequencies for those travelling between Braid, Lougheed Town Centre and Production–Way University stations. Train frequencies to and from these stations will run every 12 minutes instead of every 6-10 minutes.

LONG WEEKEND CLOSURE AND NEWSLETTER NOTICE
