My semester at NUS has been truly memorable. From the moment I stepped into Changi Airport I was captivated by the cleanliness, nature, and charm of Singapore. It's a city that seamlessly combines futuristic architecture with a rich tapestry of cultures. As my first time visiting Asia, there was a multitude of new experiences waiting to be explored and savoured.

One of the things I loved most about Singapore is its hawker culture. It was a fantastic opportunity to try out a variety of tasty and affordable dishes I'd never experienced before. Exploring the hawker centers allowed me to dive into Singapore's diverse food scene, with favorites like fried carrot cake, satay, and Hainanese chicken rice topping my list. Sharing these meals with other exchange students and locals was not only delicious but also a great way to connect and make lasting friendships.

Exploring Singapore's lush nature was another favorite pastime, reminiscent of the landscapes of Vancouver. From the iconic Gardens by the Bay to the tranquil MacRitchie Reservoir, each green space offered a sanctuary amid the urban hustle. Walking through the Botanic Gardens, with its vibrant flora and serene ponds, evoked a sense of tranquility akin to strolling through Queen Elizabeth Park back home. The juxtaposition of skyscrapers against lush greenery in Singapore mirrored Vancouver's own blend of urban sophistication and natural beauty. As I trekked through Singapore's verdant trails, I couldn't help but feel a comforting familiarity, a reminder of the breathtaking landscapes I hold dear in Vancouver.

Overall, my exchange experience at NUS has been one of the highlights of my university experience. It has not only broadened my academic horizons but also deepened my cultural understanding and global perspective. If you're considering studying abroad, I wholeheartedly encourage you to seize the opportunity. NUS offers an exceptional academic environment, and Singapore's vibrant culture and proximity to other countries ensure endless adventures.
