Engaged learning abounds at SFU

April 03, 2012

This past weekend a colleague sent me the link to an online brochure recently produced by the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) team. Entitled "A Degree of Experience," it documents the myriad experiential learning opportunities available to students at Simon Fraser University.

What I love about the brochure is how it brings to life what SFU is currently doing to engage students.

The University’s recently adopted Strategic Vision makes it our goal "to equip  SFU students with the knowledge, skills and experiences that prepare them for life in an ever-changing and challenging world."

To this end, it commits to providing SFU students “access to an unparalleled selection of experiential learning opportunities that allow them to apply knowledge, grow as individuals, engage with diverse communities, develop entrepreneurial skills and refine their sense of civic literacy.”

It's reassuring to see how far down the road to meeting this commitment SFU has already travelled.  At minimum, the WIL brochure confirms that future enhancements to student engagement will be built on a terrific foundation.

We're so glad you like it, and delighted that Dr. Nancy Johnston spearheaded such a comprehensive piece!
