Shaping our urban landscape

SFU’s Urban Design Certificate Program – offered through the City Program at the Harbour Centre campus – is an example of the university’s commitment to a broader understanding of how citizens can participate in shaping our urban spaces. The non-credit program is taught by leading urban design professionals, with a focus on current western Canadian urban design issues.

Established in 1992, SFU’s City Program invites participation and discussion in a range of urban issues, including transportation, affordable housing, demographic forecasting, land use regulation and heritage conservation, through public lectures and mid-career professional development courses.

All City Program instructors are practicing professionals and academics who bring their personal and professional expertise into the classroom.
