FOOTNOTE <n> <'text' | "text">;

n: specifies the relative line to be occupied by the footnote.
text: specifies the text of the footnote in single or double quotation marks.

Details

The FOOTNOTE statement takes effect when the step or RUN group with which it is associated executes. Once you specify a footnote for a line, SAS repeats the same footnote on all pages until you cancel or redefine the footnote for that line.

Under OS/2, the maximum footnote length is 256 characters. If the specified footnote is greater than the LINESIZE system option, the footnote is truncated to the line size.
