Syntax

FILEVOL=volser | (volser-1 . . . volser-n)

volser: specifies one to five volume serial numbers (VOLSERs); the VOLSERs can be separated by blanks or commas. A VOLSER is a six-character name of an OS/390 DASD or tape volume. The name contains one to six alphanumeric or national characters. VOLSERs are site-specific.

Details

The FILEVOL= option specifies the default VOLSER that will be used for allocating new physical files if the VOL= data set option is omitted from the FILENAME statement or function or the LIBNAME statement or function.

Parentheses are required if more than one VOLSER is specified.
