Instructor Reports

Summer 2020 Evaluation Reports were changed to reflect:

  • University-level questions were modified to clarify that the instruction was remote, not in-person.
  • Faculty and Department/School-level questions were not included

The reports also contain a statement noting that evaluation results were collected during a rapid shift to remote instruction and should be interpreted in this context and with fairness.

The instructor report is only viewable by the instructor.

How to access reports?

Once you are logged in, click Reports in the left sidebar.

What are the sections of the Instructor Report?

Section 1: Who responded?

This section gives some information about the students who responded to the course evaluation. It is intended to help you understand the limits and generalizability of the statistics presented. Click here for more information about how response rate, perceived course difficulty, course engagement and students’ overall experience impact evaluation responses.

Section 2: Instructor narrative and questions

This section displays your instructor narrative and the responses to the questions you selected/created. The instructor narrative is shown to your chair/director, but your questions and the responses to them are not. If you did not submit a narrative or any questions, this section will be blank.

Section 3: Department questions

This section contains responses to questions created by the course’s evaluating unit (department, school or program) to reflect discipline-specific teaching and learning values. These questions appear on every SETC form for courses in this evaluating unit. Responses to comment questions can be found in Section 6.

Section 4: Faculty questions

This section contains responses to questions created by the course’s Faculty to reflect discipline-specific teaching and learning values. These questions appear on every SETC form for courses in this Faculty.

Section 5: University questions

This section contains responses to questions created by the Office of the Vice President, Academic, in collaboration with the SFU community, to reflect the teaching and learning values of SFU. These questions appear on every SETC form. Responses to the university comment question can be found in Section 6.

Part 1 of this section focuses on students’ experiences with the course instructor, and part 2 focuses on their experience with the course.

Section 6: Comments

All comment-question responses appear in this section. There is always at least one comment question asked on each SETC evaluation from the university question set (“Do you have any further comments?”). If there is a comment question from the instructor, evaluating unit, or Faculty question set, those responses will appear here.
