REEL 19 COMMENTARY

4. Scan is done while car motor is turned off. Each station played for about 10". Two cars passing (2'40").

5. Car arrives, stops, recordists get out, can't hear horses eating though.

6. Car passing (0'15"), horses eating, but hard to identify as that, since recordists are not close enough. Horse drinking (2'10"). Wind in trees forms the general ambience.

7. Car stops, recordists talk to guy at water pump. Pumping into metal bucket (1'00"), directions (1'45"), and talk about lighthouses. Man has great accent. Pumping into plastic bucket (4'15"). Throughout take strong wind whistling in background and towards end (5'00") rain on car roof. Talking throughout, note squeak of window at end.

8. Rain on car roof for approx. 45", Peter talking to bell ringer in background. Bell starts ringing (1'00"), has a very clangy attack. Pot levels get turned down right after beginning of ring.

9. Chat with bell ringer. Bell rings (0'45"-2'05"). Note the less clangy sound of bell from this position. Rain on roof of church tower. Chat afterwards about other churches in the area.

10. Jazzy, saxophone music.

11. Sounds like a rough road, heavy low frequencies with rattling when driving through holes. Car horn (6'50").

12. Directions followed by dialogue with man stuck on road.

13. Recorded from car. Wind in rock and some scrub grass produces high frequency swoosh with occasional whistling when wind blows stronger.
