REEL 50 COMMENTARY

1. Very quiet. Wind in pine trees. Birds singing for short while (1'00"). Insect flying by microphone (6'15"). Some recurring foreground sound that sounds like a cricket, or a squirrel brushing its teeth. What is it? Birds singing at end of take for 15". Recordist talking at end.

2. Starts with lots of shuffling and talking of recordists (for 30"). Trees are almost bare of leaves. The many leaves rattling in the wind are on the ground. Strong wind. Crow (5'15"), just one short call. Something (an iron gate?) is squeaking in the wind throughout. A truck passing (5'15") -- the only one on this whole reel -- hasn't disappeared by the time reel is over.
