REEL 8 COMMENTARY

1. General talk with H.P. at beginning. Gramophone begins (3'00") with Casey Jones, starts to stick (6'00"). British Grenadiers (7'10"), marching band.

2. Several old clocks ticking simultaneously. First chime (3'15"), more chimes after that. Note the accompanying rasping sound of the chiming mechanism. Blowing of bulb horn (5'15"), print throughs of horn audible.

3. Clear chiming, without sound from mechanism. Note sharp attack.

7/8. Frequency range of this sound on the edge of bearability. End of take 8 (1'25") board is put on table surface, which changes sound considerably.

9. Chime accompanied by squeak.

10. Nice spectrum.

12. General talk and laughing while walking upstairs and through squeaky doors. Recordists meeting two old men. Game begins (4'30").

13. Microphone trouble on left channel during first half of take. Note continuous low frequency rumble from car.
