REEL 15 COMMENTARY

1. Fantastic bike sounds, fantastically high sound levels (see below)! Continuous chatter from announcer. Occasionally one can hear the bikes pass the announcer on the speaker to the right.

1'30" machines idling (one bike has a very grating sound), then starting off, race begins.

2'05" recording levels turned up.

3'15" very loud single bike leaving pit area.

5'10" the main pack of bikes flashes by. Microphones switched shortly after this.

6'30" third lap.

9'15" fifth lap.

11'45" sixth lap, bikes now split up somewhat.

11'50" bike revving in pit area.

13'10" seventh lap.

14'35" eighth lap.

15'50" ninth lap.

18'00" bikes entering pits.

21'45" boy's voice.

22'00" second race -- larger bikes.

23'30" revving at starting grid, followed by others approaching the track and leaving.

25'10" start of second race, at some distance from microphones.

26'15" relatively long pause in commentary.

26'35 " second lap.

28'15" third lap.

29'40" fourth lap.

30'50" fifth lap.

Passing bikes at 25 feet 106 dBA

Passing bikes at 15 feet 115 dBA

Ambient levels between races, revving up 85-92 dBA

Level of P.A. voice at microphones 88- 93 dBA

Revving at starting grid 108-114 dBA
