REEL 48 COMMENTARY

Except for the conversation in take 1, similar material here as on reel 47.

1. Starts in screen room.

pulp wash area.

kay-meer digester area.

5'30" explosive sound of valve release.

*5'45" conversation with men in the office recovery area.

*lime kiln.

*going out of enclosed control room by paper rollers, into din of machinery.

pulp storage area, deep hum.

*pulp machines, added notes to same hum.

2. Starts in machine room (insulated), then pulp machine area which has a great musical hum. Stock being pumped into headbox of pulp machine.

dryers.

*pulp cutter (regular chopping sound).

*bales of pulp being tied, short musical "snap".

*forklift trucks in storage area.

12'30" peace and quiet at last, lots of conversation, secretary's wind chimes.
