REEL 49 COMMENTARY

1. Some recordist's remark, in otherwise incoherent sequence.

2. Good clear sound.

*3. Short sequence, basically an automated hose, to clean off employee's cars from smoke fallout and ash of the mill stack.

4. Moving and storing logs in yard area, broadband with high ringing sound.

5. The people asked are riding horses, note the incredible quietness, car motor is turned off.

2'00" horses gallop off.

2'15" car starts.

6. Starts with trail bikes in background and footsteps, clunks on microphones. Walking to the beach, then asking young people on bikes to leave. Close up bike sounds, good.

3'30" first waves appear, bikes disappear.

7. Interesting sequence: walking, then listening, walking, listening, etc. Many different qualities of waves heard. Quite a bit of wind on microphones, though, when recordist is walking. This is on a pebble beach.

1'10" footsteps as recordist approaches "assistant" who is having a pee.

1'55" footsteps continue.

3'55" almost inaudible, a group of saltwater ducks take off, peeping.

5'00" walking over larger rocks (hand size).

6'00" footsteps stop, wavelets at close range are heard, surf in background.

7'00" walking again.

10'55" walking off the beach to a grove of trees, over various surfaces.

*11'15" recordist startles a bunch of crows, raucous caws.

12'00" distant dog, recordist stopped walking.

13'55" walking once more through trees.

15'20" distant seaplane.
