Production Score - page 4

 Tracks 1 & 2

Source: Male phoneme, with 1/16 attack & decay (sample repeated)

Processing: Start with 2 or 3 voices, offset = 1000 samples, offset range = 100 samples, grain duration = 50 ms, grain env = 1/16, delay = 500 ms, delay range = 5 ms, ramp = 250 ms. Increment no. of voices back to 15 bringing in unsynchronized phonemes, then at approx 24", bring in 15 voices transposed 1 oct. down, then reduce to half transposed. Around 32" start ramp as below, ending around 3' with a fade at max. density

 Tracks 3 & 4

Source: Male phoneme, with 1/16 attack & decay (sample repeated)

Processing: Start with 2 or 3 voices, offset = 1000 samples, offset range = 100 samples, grain duration = 50 ms, grain env = 1/16, delay = 500 ms, delay range = 5 ms, ramp = 250 ms. Increment no. of voices back to 18 bringing in unsynchronized phonemes, then at approx 32", bring in all voices transposed 1 oct. up, then reduce to half transposed, and start ramp as below, ending around 3' with a fade at max. density

 Tracks 5 & 6

Source: Female phoneme, with 1/16 attack & decay (sample repeated)

Increment no. of voices back to 15 bringing in unsynchronized phonemes, then at approx 24", bring in 15 voices transposed 1 oct. down, then reduce to half transposed. Around 32" start ramp as below, ending around 3' with a fade at max. density

 Tracks 7 & 8

Source: Female phoneme, with 1/16 attack & decay (sample repeated)

Processing: Start with 2 or 3 voices, offset = 1000 samples, offset range = 100 samples, grain duration = 50 ms, grain env = 1/16, delay = 500 ms, delay range = 5 ms, ramp = 250 ms.  Mask Track
Starts around 0:52, played at twice tape speed, cycles 6 times with FM grains (realized with GRMSKX program) with c:m ratios 1:2, 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 5:1 for each 20" cycle; lasts about 2' and fades; see mask details below

Ramp: Reduce delay from 500 ms to 0 ms every 1/4" in single steps, lasting about 2:05; then reduce offset from 1000 to 0 in steps of 10 samples, for about 25", then reduce grain duration from 50 ms to 10 ms for another 10" to produce maximum density and audio rate modulation.

Mask: Frequency mask: 7600/8400 Hz -> 2000/8000 Hz in 15", holds for 10", then back to 7600/8400 Hz in 15"; Duration mask: 68/72 ms -> 18/22 ms in 15", 20/70 ms for 10", then 18/22 -> 68/72 ms in 15"; Delay ramp from 0 -> 25 ms in 15", then 50 -> 0 -> 50 ms in 10"; then 25 -> 0 ms in 15"; Modulation Index mask: 0/0 -> 0/10 in 15", hold for 10", then 0/10 -> 0/0 in 15". Total duration 40". Each mask segment is translated by the program into a ramp on the average and range, similar to the ramp files, since they are functionally equivalent.
