Research Facilitation

Research Grants Facilitators

Staff in each Faculty with research credentials and experience, who can match researchers
with funding opportunities and potential collaborators, assist with the development of
competitive applications for external grant and contract funding, and offer grant-writing
workshops.

Faculty Research Liaison Officers

Provide information on research grant and contract opportunities, advice on the development and writing of grant applications, facilitation of research collaboration, assistance in obtaining tools and equipment needed for research, advice on research policy to the Vice-President, Research, and advice and interpretation of research policies to faculty members.

Faculty Mentors

Senior SFU faculty with strong records of successful application for grant funding from the Canadian granting councils and/or service on grant selection committees, who are available to their colleagues for consultation and advice on the preparation of grant applications.

Community Trust Endowment Fund (CTEF)

The Community Trust Endowment Fund (CTEF) provides a maximum of $500,000 per year per approved project over a maximum of five years, with the possibility of renewal. The Terms of Reference for this Fund were approved by the Board of Govenors in 2005. The CTEF channels revenue from the UniverCity development into the major initiatives outlined in the University's Strategic Research Plan (SRP).

Support for Social Sciences & Humanities Research

SFU works to ensure that scholarly and research endeavours in the social sciences and humanities be supported through the provision of internal funding for faculty and students

Supporting Student Engagement in Research

An essential part of SFU's vision for an institution that is student-centred, research-drive and community-engaged is to provide increased opportunities for students to obtain early, hands-on experience in research.
