About Research Operations
Back-in-the-day, when the entire university was on a first-name basis, support for researchers was perhaps sparse, but it was easily understood "who to get in touch with" for what. Steady growth, and particularly, the spike in project and external funding complexity over the past 10 years, have led to a series of incremental research support hires across this now very diverse institution.
"Research Operations" was a concept born out of faculty feedback from sessions in 2015. Definitely not a new unit, Research Operations refers to all aspects of research support, in much the same way that "SFU Innovates" brings together the innovation ecosystem at SFU.
