EMS supervisor/instructor position
Penn State University externally posted this job opportunity today. My
unofficial insider's views: This job's focus is on administration and
instruction, but you get to do EMS ops too. It is a really good
position based on the University pay grade, and it requires a minimum of
a Bachelor's degree. Computer skills, teamwork, and ability to work
with students are also going to be important characteristics.
We operate one BLS licensed ambulance answering over 600 emergency
dispatches per year, cover about 250 special events at the BLS/ALS level
annually (including Penn State Football, Basketball, concerts,
festivals, etc.), instruct EMT courses and other classes each semester,
and are certified as an EMS continuing education training site. We're
also really good at EMS and have fun doing it.
There are 3 full time managerial/supervisory employees (of which this
position is one), approximately 35 part-time employees (mostly PSU
students), and approximately 12 volunteers (all PSU students).
