Re: Thoughts on 6.0 upgrade timing?

We're looking at going to 6.0.2 over Thanksgiving break. Although, after reading about the scroll feature not working if the reading pane isn't showing, we may wait until 6.0.3(http://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=42074). A few of the reasons we have a need to move to 6.0.x is because of some of the calendar delegation fixes/changes. We have several people that need to be able to have calendar appointments sent to their assistant and also have the assistant able to put it on the the owner's calendar. Additionally, the ability to enable/disable zimlets on a per-user basis is something wanted here. Lastly, we've been trying to get about 650 people off of our Exchange 2003 system, and it's been put on hold until we go to 6.0.x, so there's a bit of a motivator to do it sooner rather than later for us.

Question for everyone else, is anyone going to deploy the Social zimlet at their university? We're talking about doing it here, at least for the students. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

David Emmerich

Subject: Thoughts on 6.0 upgrade timing?

Is anyone else seriously considering upgrading their working 5.0 installation to 6.0 by January 1?

Why or why not?

We're still on the fence. There are some nice fixes & features in 6.0, but it's not quite as compelling as 4.5 -> 5.0.
