Welcome to the home page of Betty A. Schellenberg, Professor
of English at Simon Fraser University.
I am a specialist in eighteenth-century studies who received my training at
the University of Winnipeg (BEd, BAHonours) and the University of Ottawa (MA,
PhD). Some of my recent publications are
The Professionalization of Women
Writers in Eighteenth-Century Britain (Cambridge, 2005),
Reconsidering
the Bluestockings (Huntington Library, 2003, co-edited with Nicole Pohl),
and
Part Two: Reflections on the Sequel (Toronto, 1998, co-edited with
Paul Budra). My current research focuses on mid-eighteenth-century print culture,
women's writing, Samuel Richardson, and travel writing. I teach and supervise
students in all aspects of eighteenth-century literary life.
