Retrofitting

About

What is Retrofitting?

Retrofitting an existing building offers the opportunity to audit and upgrade the energy performance of the building by implementing modifications to improve energy efficiency or decrease energy demand. Energy efficiency retrofits can reduce the operational costs, particularly in older buildings, as well as help to attract tenants and gain a market edge.

Different sorts of retrofits include heating, hot water, insulation, and windows and doors.
Things to consider when retrofitting can include things how many people live in the house, or how big your house is.

What Should I Consider?

There's many factors that should be considered. Some of them can include:

  • Energy efficency
  • Cost of renovation
  • Cost to maintain

For utility upgrades, there's also factors such as the type of fuel or how big a space/how many people will be using it. For a detailed breakdown of the different retrofitting options available, see the Options page.
