IPinCH Conversations / Ruth Aloua on Community-Based Research in Hawai'i

Date:
May 07, 2014

In early April, Brian Egan and Kristen Dobbin got together with Ruth Aloua, an IPinCH Fellow and MA candidate, to chat about her experiences doing research in her own community in Hawai'i.

In this episode, Ruth speaks about her MA project at Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park. She describes the issues that she is addressing through her research, how she approached her work as a Native Hawaiian scholar, as well as some of the challenges she faced along the way.

"The big picture recommendation is to better care for the spirit of a place.”
