Dr. Theresa Pauly Joins Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging Research Team

December 05, 2024

Dr. Theresa Pauly, the lab director of the Lifelong Health and Wellbeing Lab and Canada Research Chair in Social Relationships, Health, and Aging, has been appointed as Co-Site Lead for the Surrey data collection site and Vancouver Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) site of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA).

In this role, Dr. Pauly will help advance research focused on understanding and improving the aging process for Canadians. The CLSA, a national initiative supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), has been gathering vital data on aging since its launch in 2009. The platform focuses on the biological, social, and economic factors that influence aging, with insights drawn from over 50,000 participants aged 45 to 85. By enabling evidence-based research and policy, the CLSA strives to uncover what helps individuals age healthily while addressing disparities among vulnerable populations.

In the Lifelong Health and Wellbeing Lab, we use CLSA data to examine how social interactions, health behaviours, and environmental challenges influence well-being over the life course.
