You are SFU’s first line of defense against Cybersecurity attacks

October 25, 2023

This email is sent on behalf of Dr. Dilson Rassier, provost and vice-president academic, and Martin Pochurko, vice-president, finance & administration. It has been sent to all faculty and staff.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, an international campaign to highlight the importance of information security. The goal of this campaign is to educate people on simple steps to protect their information online.

As an employee and faculty member, you are our first line of defense against the risk of fraud, scams, or breaches.

New Information Security Course

As part of this year’s Cybersecurity Awareness campaign, the university has launched a new online course sponsored by Information Security Services.

We invite all faculty and staff to complete the Information Security Essentials Course (approximately 20-30 minutes) that supports the new policies under GP 24: Acceptable Use and Security of Digital Information and Electronic Systems.

SFU is committed to protecting the Digital Information and Electronic Systems that are critical to teaching, research, business operations, and other university activities that are vital to the communities we support. Awareness and knowledge of information security is a requirement for all members of the SFU community to help maintain a safe campus and protect assets critical to our work.

Thank you in advance for your participation,
