Welcome to the IRM

The Marmon Tabernacle. Milwaukee
M-H and Chicago 1952 M-H 9631.
Milwaukee 1941 St. Louis 269
is not only trackless, but also trolleyless and airless. Trolley poles were
removed to access rotting trolley boards needing replacement. Note air reservoir
on the floor.
Recently retired MVRTA (Dayton)
Flyer 925 on IRM's "Central Avenue."
It seems hard to believe this modern coach is already retired. (Lots more of
them are going to be retired in the next few years.)
The new trolley bus barn is in
the background, to the right of 925. The Chicago Tunnel Company collection will
also be housed in this new building.
Far from North Third Street,
Teutonia Avenue and the year 1965, Milwaukee Marmon-Herrington 441 basks in
the warmth of the Illinois sun.
Milwaukee 441, framed by Des
Moines "Curbliner" 239 and Chicago 9631.
Once the coach collection is
moved to the new barn (right), the old barn (left) may become a restoration
shop.
Milwakee 441 recently received
a replacement motor. The motor was obtained, along with other spare parts, from
MVRTA. The good relationship Illinois Railway Musem strives for and maintains
with various railroads and transit systems continues to pay such "dividends"
in many ways.
Is this Milwaukee's Wilson Park
loop, circa 1965? Chicago Surface Lines "Matchbox" streetcar 1374
(background, left) and the "El" car to the right betray the actual
location. The date is Sunday, July 23, 2000.
