Syntax

S=n

Details

Under OS/390, n can range from 0 to 32,760, which is the maximum length of records on OS/390.

Note:   If n is 0, SAS uses the value of the SEQ= system option to determine whether the input contains sequence fields that should be ignored. Otherwise, SAS interprets n as the column in which to start scanning (for variable-length records) or stop scanning (for fixed-length records).  [cautionend]
