SFU experts available on Coastal GasLink pipeline protests

Protests continue today across the country in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en land defenders and the hereditary chiefs who oppose the planned Coastal GasLink pipeline project. In Victoria protestors have blocked the B.C. Legislature entrances before the Speech from the Throne is set to begin.

Simon Fraser University experts are available to speak on the protests and the issues surrounding them:

Clifford Atleo is a Tsimshian (Kitsumkalum/Kitselas) and Nuu-chah-nulth (Ahousaht) scholar and an assistant professor in resource & environmental management. His research focuses on Indigenous governance, political economy and resource management.

Samir Gandesha is director of the Institute for the Humanities, and focuses on the relation between politics, aesthetics, and psychoanalysis. He also regularly writes commentaries on contemporary socio-economic and political problems.
