As provinces across Canada have begun easing physical distancing and other restrictions in a bid to restart the economy and restore relative normalcy in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, British Columbia’s Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is releasing results this afternoon of new short-term modelling that will help pave the way for future COVID-19 health policy in B.C.

SFU’s Caroline Colijn and her team of researchers have been working closely with the BCCDC since February  to develop mathematical models that test the effectiveness of physical distancing measures adopted by the province in the face of the ongoing pandemic. Colijn is also a member of the Federal COVID-19 expert panel headed by the Chief Science Advisor of Canada (CSA). She is available for interviews today to discuss the latest findings of her modelling research.
