Earthquake in B.C. – SFU experts available
An earthquake struck B.C.’s Sunshine Coast on Friday, Feb. 21, just before 1.30p.m. and could be felt across the Lower Mainland. The earthquake was measured by Earthquakes Canada at 5.1 magnitude, which is considered medium strength.
SFU experts Brent Ward and John Clague can talk about the earthquake, the reason B.C. is a hotbed of seismic activity, and how a medium sized earthquake such as this one should be viewed as a wake-up call for better earthquake preparedness.
