Biography

Alexandra's research will focus on the processes controlling phreatic and phreatomagmatic eruptions, events notoriously difficult to forecast due to limited seismic precursors and altered gas compositions caused by shallow magma–water interactions. Her work emphasizes multiparametric monitoring of volcanic systems to understand hydrothermal dynamics influenced by complex internal and external forcings. Specifically, she is studying the spatiotemporal evolution of microseismicity and degassing at Mt. Meager (Canada) and La Soufrière de Guadeloupe (France), exploring how these processes are modulated by deep magmatic sources, shallow hydrothermal processes, and external factors such as precipitation, temperature changes, and glacier retreat.
