                             Ahmad B. Rad

Dr. Ahmad B. Rad is a Professor at the School of Engineering Science, Simon Fraser University. His current research interests include autonomous systems, advanced vehicle control systems, mapping, localization, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), and intelligent control.

He has published extensively in international journals and international conference proceedings. Ahmad is editor-in-Chief of ISA Transactions and  an editor of Journal of Intelligent & Robotic Systems, and an associate editor of Intelligent Automation and Soft Computing Journal.

Mehran Shirazi

Mehran Shirazi was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1983. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering with specialization in control theory from Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran, in 2006 and 2009, respectively. Currently, he is a PhD student in mechatronics systems engineering at Simon Fraser University, Canada. His research interests include intelligent vehicle control, driver assisted systems, fuzzy logic control, and PID control.

Dr. Yan Liu

Dr. Yan worked towards his PhD at AISL as a China Scholarship Fund visiting scholar. He completed his PhD in 2011.

Mehdi Cina

Mehdi Cina was born in Iran in 1973. He received the B.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from Shahid Chamran University of Ahwaz in 1995 and M.Sc degree in electrical engineering from K. N. Toosi University of Technology in 1999. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree with the Department of Mechatronics System Engineering, Simon Fraser University. His area of interest is Intelligent Systems and Control and Autonomous Vehicle Control Applications like Vehicle Collision Avoidance, Warning Systems and Driver Assistance.

Dr. Xinzheng Zhang

Dr. Zhang was jointly supervised by Dr. Rad and Dr. Wong from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He obtained his PhD from Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2010.

Mohammad Al-Qaderi

Mohammad holds B.Sc and M.Sc Degrees in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology. He worked in many institutes as a research assistant and instructor in the area of Mechanical/Mechatronics engineering. Currently, he is doing a PhD in Mechatronics Systems Engineering at Simon Fraser University, Canada. He is conducting his research at Autonomous and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (AISL) under a supervision of Prof. Ahmad Rad. his research is focused on social robotics and its implication on human life. My research goal is to enhance the ability of robot to interact socially with its environments.

Kamal Othman

Kamal Othman was born in Saudi Arabia. I obtained his bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering in 2004. He has  worked in Saudi Electricity Company in 2005 to 2008. He was a teacher assistant at Umm Al-Qura'a University in 2008. He  started the  Master of Science degree at SFU in January 2011. Kamal research interest is in the area of humanoid Robot. He is currently working on bio-inspired SLAM for humanoid robots. He intends to complete his PhD and go back to work at Umm Al-Qura'a University.

Ethan Zhang

Ethan was born in China, Beijing, in 1988. He received the B.S degrees in Electrical Engineering from Shenyang Jianzhu University. He has started working towards the MASc degree at the School of Engineering Science of Simon Fraser University, BC, Canada. His research interest is Real-time 3D SLAM for an Autonomous Humanoid Robot Using Augmented Reality. He completed his MASc. in Mechatronics in 2014.

Elfituri S Lahemer

Elfituri completed his M.Sc Degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Tripoli University. He worked in offshore oil industry as control specialist . Currently, he is a PhD  student in Mechatronics Systems Engineering at Simon Fraser University, Canada.  His research focuses on  humanoid robot navigation.
