Film Sound (Sound for Moving Pictures)

The sound artist will discover that working with moving pictures requires several new areas of expertise. In addition to the obvious challenge of understanding the relationship between image and sound he or she will also be confronted by the complexities of synchronization of two different media.  The task of creating the soundscape and individual sound events for moving pictures brings issues of authenticity, emotional impact, perspective, and the selectivity of hearing to the fore.

ZAP will try to address the technical issues of synchronization and the craft of sound recording, sfx, foley and remixing: We suggest that the reader interested in the more theoretical aspects consult the film sound bibliography
