Camino: Pedaling to Earth’s End | ||||
his section describes an extended bike tour that I made through France and Spain in the late summer of 2004, riding along the ancient pilgrim route — the Camino — to Santiago de Compostella, and Finisterre: the "end of the earth". The ride began in late August at Briançon in the French Alps, and stretched out over 36 days: 2281 km of road and trail, mountain and plain. These entries were originally written (sporadically) in "real time" as a web-log, using whatever I could find by way of Internet access. There are a couple of ways to access the entries: a full list of all the web-log entries at right in chronological order (the early entries cover the planning stages; the actual camino ride itself starts with the "Beginning to begin" entry); there's also a compact Camino weblog archives on a separate page, with a brief description of each entry. Or you could simply start at the beginning, and go through the experience more or less as I did... |
