Use link layer solution to handle high BER in wireless links
Perform ACK control for RTT variation
- estimate response rate of MH:
- record timestamp for each packet received
- for each received ACK, apply Karn’s algorithm to update smoothed RTT in BS for RTTs between BS and MH
- enforce ACK rate:
- based on sRTT, control returning ACK to the sender by performing wait-and-go technique
TCP congestion control algorithms handle:
- congestion in both wireline and wireless domains
- long disconnections in wireless links
