What is WarnSim?
WarnSim stands for "Wide Area Radio Network Simulator". It is a
powerful, effective, yet easy to use simulator for Wide Area Radio Networks
(WARN) such as Land Mobile Radio System (LMR), Personal Communication System
(PCS), and Public Safety Wireless Network (PSWN).
WarnSim is developed with Microsoft Visual C# .NET 7.1. It works under Windows
platforms with .NET framework 1.0 (and up) support.
Who is WarnSim for?
- Network designers and architects who are planning new Wide Area Radio
Networks. WarnSim can help you to validate your design and provide
- Operators of Wide Area Radio Networks. WarnSim can help you to evaluate
current network performance and predict network performance in cases of traffic
and/or channel changes.
- Consultants in Wide Area Radio Network related areas. WarnSim can provide
you with more precise prediction results than traditional models such Erlang
models.
- Researches who are studying Wide Area Radio Networks. WarnSim can be used
to compare, evaluate, and validate your traffic models efficiently.
Why WarnSim?
There are several popular network simulators currently available, such as OPNET,
NS-2, and J-SIM.
However, all of them are designed for packet switched network and are not ideal
for simulations that model circuit switched networks. WarnSim is specificly
designed and developed for simulating Wide Area Radio Networks.
Key features:
- Unlimited network capacity - virtually no limit on number of cells and
number of channels contained in a cell.
- Powerful traffic generator - generate traffic traces based on customized
traffic models.
- Multiple traffic sources support - simulator imports multiple traffic
sources from databases and/or from text files.
- Excellent usability - graphic interface; simulation with no scripting.
- 5-step simulation - most simulations can be done with five major steps
and within several of minutes.
- Flexible simulation results presentation - simulation results can be
listed, saved, ploted and exported.
