Mrs. Brown's Classroom

The class size is 25 students. An interesting aspect of the classroom desgin is that one corner is extruded outwards at an angle, providing natural light. (see map)

Every classroom has both an inside and outside door. Students are let in and out for lunch, recess, and dismissal mostly through the outside door.

In this grade 7 class, Mrs. Brown likes to use table groups. She gets them in groups at the very start of the year and rotates them about once a month. She uses groups because of the need to separate certain kids and because it promotes a sense of community in the classroom. She likes letting them talk and share their work with other people in the group.

When switching groups, students may give her a piece of paper that has the name of 1 student that they have never sat with before and 1 student that they have sat with before. She takes this into consideration but won’t always accept requests.
