Mrs. Ainscow's Classroom

In this grade 6 class, Mrs. Ainscow has organized the groups in a very interesting way:

When I first entered, it felt a bit maze-like but it allows her to move fairly easily between every student. She seems to like this arrangement.

When asked how she came up with it she said it "just sort-of happened". It allows her to meet the different needs of students in her class, keeping problem students separated and those who need extra help at the front. The students that need extra monitoring go on the ends of the desk groups while others stay in the middle.

I found it interesting because, although it feels random, no student is facing backwards and they can all see the front.

The diagram on the left is only a rough estimate of what it was like. It was hard to remember the exact arrangement.
