Elephant in the room: SFUFA Elections
In view of the recent history of the SFUFA Presidency,
while reading Neil Abramson's election statement I tried to find any
indication as to whether he would consider taking a position
as a senior (non-SFUFA) administrator at SFU
in the foreseeable future. Since I could find no statement about
that, although there was a lot about the benefits of cooperating with the
administration (which I regard as a good thing if taken in
moderation), I decided that not vote in this election until the
presence of this 'elephant in the room' is at least acknowledged.
Cheers,
George

Subject: SFUFA message: Important Notice re: Executive Committee Elections
Dear SFUFA members:
Late Monday afternoon we were alerted to a glitch in the online voting system which potentially allowed members to cast multiple votes. We are not certain exactly how many people may have been affected, and while we believe that the impact was likely minimal, the integrity of the voting process demands that the election process be above reproach.
As a result, and with apologies for the inconvenience, we believe the only appropriate response is to re-boot the system, eliminating all votes to date and asking members who have already cast their votes to please do so again.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience; it is critical, however, that each and every member can cast a vote with full confidence in the process, and if there is any chance that a member's vote or the transparency of the system has been compromised we must act to rectify the situation.
For your convenience, the voting information and link to the online system is also listed below.

Thank you for your understanding.
