Re: Advice re conference planning

The downtown campus is often available, although it is a little bit frustrating the extent to which they are costly to organize academic events. We would like to run a math conference at the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, and we are obliged to pay for minimum of 4 hours for front of house to direct conference goers to their seats, and a projectionist. When I protested that perhaps a projectionist was a bit exaggerated for displaying pdf files, particularly since it is different from IT support to say, stream the talks, I was informed that these are money making endeavours for the university, and that is how it is done.

Good luck Nancy.

I have budget estimates for Whistler, but the costs are very high. I would prefer to host the meeting somewhere other than SFU Burnaby, as there are few dining options right here. Does anyone on this list have venues that they would recommend for a meeting of this size?
