Hello all,
I just had a complaint from a TA that the company that issues the e-textbook for my course (Campus E-Books) requires digital analytics of his electronic device in order to access the book. The TA has complained that Campus E-Books' privacy settings are
nowhere near the legal standard, in that consent to being surveilled is not a condition of usage for a regular pdf (the book does not download as a pdf); the TA also complains that Campus EBooks does not publicize information about their data storage on their
site.
I know nothing about privacy settings or legal standards. I'm wondering if anyone who is more savvy about these things has perceived a problem with Campus E Books?
I will say, accessing the e-textbook through Campus E Books has been a nightmare; I was fielding multiple emails a day last week from students who were having problems accessing and downloading it.
Thanks for any comments or advice.
Best, Ronda
