Hi all- I’m receiving a lot of bounce backs on outgoing messages in the last day- has anyone else experienced this? The messages that are going undelivered are
all to addresses I’ve used before without difficulty…

Amen. Silently dropping a service from one day to the next is not cool. While Ralph's settings are working for me now, ITS tells me they are planning to take away all access from Gmail and the like. That final divorce is supposed to come
with a few months notice.

From IT Services: There's an on-going attack against the
mailgate.sfu.ca server, that's disrupting the service.
A workaround has been put in place:
- Since the attacks are focused only on SMTP Port 465, we've set up a
separate mail service on the other mail ports, port 25 and 587.
- Note that Ports 25 and 587 use the StartTLS SSL protocol, rather than
native SSL.
- If you are still having issues with your Thunderbird, workaround is to
connect to SFU VPN first then send your email.
- where possible, adopt a mail client that can speak native Exchange
protocols, such as Outlook or Apple Mail. Most mobile mail clients also
support ActiveSync, which is an Exchange-native protocol.
