100 Community Conversations provided an opportunity for British Columbians to explore and exchange ideas on the future of BC’s economy. These conversations gathered residents’ ideas and perspectives on the issues and strategies required to move BC’s economy forward. The results informed a daylong deliberative dialogue with key stakeholders on October 4th during SFU Public Square’s 2013 Community Summit, and were compiled into a Citizens' Agenda for BC's Economic Future. This agenda is meant to inform an ongoing, effective, conversation about the BC economy after the Summit.

About Charting BC's Economic Future

For our second SFU Public Square Community Summit, we explored issues regarding BC's economic future. Faced with an increasingly competitive global economy, it is more important than ever that British Columbians find ways to work together on a common agenda for promoting the well-being of the province and its citizens. This Community Summit invited participation from residents across the province to discuss British Columbia’s economic future.

Provincial Tour Reports

The following reports capture the views and opinions of participants from the Community Conversations as part of our Provincial Tour. During each Conversation, a diverse group of representatives from economic development, aboriginal, civic society, business, environment, and labour (to name a few) came together to share their hopes and concerns for BC's economy, participated in a SWOT analysis, and created action strategies for BC's economy in 2030. Each report presents the notes and key themes documented in those discussions. These are the views and opinions of conversation participants, not the views and opinions of SFU Public Square. The materials contained in these reports will help SFU Public Square develop a Citizens' Agenda for BC's Economic Future.
