BISC students sweep Faculty of Science 3MT competition

May 04, 2020

Department of Biological Sciences

In the recent 3-minute thesis competition (faculty of science heat, before SFU's closure), Elana Varner (Gries-lab) and Aaron Thien (Cory-lab) garnered all the Prizes. Aaron's talk  "How to kill a monster" placed second, and Elana's talk "A bumblebee nest-site roadmap: The saving grace of mouse pee?" received both the top place ranking by the panel of judges and the Peoples' Choice Award.

Congratulations to Elana and Aaron! Both would go on to the SFU-wide heat (if there was one this year).

Noteworthy: Elana won the same competition last year with a different talk and went all the way to the Western Regional Competition.
