Supporting Documents

Please do not mail us anything.  You will be able to upload your supporting documents after you application fee has been paid and processed. 

  • C.V. or resume,
  • One-page Statement of Purpose 
  • Electronic copies of your unofficial transcript(s)*
  • One optional supporting document.
  • The GRE is not required

*Do not mail your official transcripts to our office.  Official transcripts will only be required if you receive an offer of admission.

Submitting Proof of English Language Proficiency

International applicants whose primary language is not English will not be required to complete an English-language test if they have completed a degree at an institution where the language of instruction and examination was in English in a country where English is the primary language. For a list of these countries please click here.

TOEFL test takers should request electronic submission of scores directly from the test centre to SFU. SFU's Institution Code is 0999.  Use the official department codes listed on this link.

IELTS test takers can either request electronic submission or order an official paper test score to be mailed directly to your destination graduate program.

If you have already taken an English proficiency exam and know your test score, you may report this on-line to speed up application reviews. Please note that exam scores must be less than 2 years old to be considered, and the official scores still need to be sent to us for verification.
