Context

A recent survey had found that the number of new immigration are growing fast than ever before in Canada1, there are 20.6% of total population is foreign-born residence. Most of these newcomers choose to settle metropolitan areas, such as Vancouver. They are relatively young (average 31.7 years old), and the study also shows that large proportion of them are from Asia. Other than that, in BC, the provincial government wants to increase the number of international student by half in the next few years2. The arrival of new immigration and international students in Metro Vancouver will definitely increase the demand of renting. Locating the potential residential area of those new commers can allow investors to know where the rental price might be increase in the future, as well as be useful to local officers and community workers to provide needed help to potential new residents.

Project objective

In this project, I try to locate the residential area with high potential of rent increase in Metro Vancouver by using Multicriteria Evaluation approach. I assume that rent price increasing will occur in the area where attractive to those young immigration families and international students.
