Data Acquisition

Most of the data for the project was acquired in the S drive in the SIS lab. The four vector data files (skytrain stations, bike routes, and bus stops, and population) which I needed for my analysis are mostly from the S drive except the population data. I downloaded the census 2001 for population from the Canadian Census Analyser at http://dc1.chass.utoronto.ca/census/2001_da_all.html. I then exported all the population values with the EA values to excel and saved them as a database file (.dbf) so that I can use the data in ArcGIS for further spatial analysis. I also digitized the skytrain stations for the millennium lines myself, since I couldn't find it in the S drive.

Bike Routes shapefiles are acquired from S:\Data Warehouse\City of Vancouver.

Expo skytrain stations shapefile acquired from S:\Data Warehouse\Translink and I digitized the Mellenium skytrain stations.

Bus stops shapefile is acquired from S:\Data Warehouse\Translink

Census data joined with a da shapefile from S:\255-Data\census_units.
Note: this vector image in Idrisi is displaying the ID numbers only.
