Methodology

MCE (Multi-Criteria Evaluation) technique was used to help determine the most suitable areas for a Chinese restaurant.

In MCE technique, criteria are classified into two types, factors and constraints. Factors are conditions that enhance or detract from the suitability of a specific alternative for the activity under consideration. Factors can be rescaled to a continuous scale of suitability from 0 (the least suitable) to 255 (the most suitable). Constraints serve to limit the alternatives under consideration. Constraints are expressed in the Boolean form, 0 (unsuitable) or 1 (suitable). All the constraints and factors can be established through Macro Modeler in Idrisi. Click to see Macro Modler.

In this project the constraints and factors are:

Landuse_reclass Constraint:The restaurants must be located in commercial or commercial - residential/mixed areas.
