SFU Research Liaison

  • SFU Research Matters: The Office of the VP Research webpage provides an overview of research at SFU.
  • University/Industry Research Partners: By connecting new and established companies with the technologies and resources of Simon Fraser University, the University/Industry Liaison Office creates partnerships between SFU researchers and industry in local and global markets. These strategic links generate new venture investment and long term economic benefits for the University, its industrial partners and the community.

Mathematical Sciences Partners

These organizations excel at bringing mathematicians together, with a primary focus of advancing the application of the mathematical sciences to a wide range of research areas.

  • Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences (AARMS) exists to encourage and advance research in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and mathematical sciences, in the Atlantic region.
  • Banff International Research Station (BIRS) is a joint Canada-US-Mexico initiative that provides an environment for creative interaction and the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, and with related sciences and industry.
  • Fields Institute brings together mathematicians from Canada and abroad, and by promoting contact and collaboration between professional mathematicians and the increasing numbers of users of mathematics.
  • Institute of Mathematics and its Applications: The primary mission of the IMA is to increase the impact of mathematics by fostering research of a truly interdisciplinary nature, linking mathematics of the highest caliber and important scientific and technological problems from other disciplines and industry.
  • Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems (MITACS) was created to harness the power of mathematical tools and methodologies in order to address the inherent complexity of modern industrial and societal problems for the benefit of all Canadians.
  • Pacific Institute of Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) promotes research in and applications of the mathematical sciences, to facilitate the training of highly qualified personnel, to enrich public awareness of and education in the mathematical sciences, and to create mathematical partnerships with similar organizations in other countries
