Abstract

Nuclear power plants, nuclear research facilities and Uranium mines, but also hospitals and the military (nuclear submarines, decommissioning of nuclear arms, etc.) all produce significant amounts of radioactive waste. Storage seems to be the only option, but even then the question is: where? This talk will set out the requirements for a radioactive waste repository, and touch upon some of the scientific and political debates in setting these requirements.
