Celebrate Brain Awareness Week 2023, March 13-19

To celebrate Brain Awareness Week, the Institute for Neuroscience and Neurotechnology hosted three events for kids between the ages of 7 and 18 years old, in partnership with the Behavioural Neuroscience Student Society, Cognitive Science Student Society, and SFU’s Faculty of Science.

The Incredible Brain Events

The brain shapes who we are, what we do, and how we think, feel, and move. As part of Brain Awareness Week 2023, learn about the incredible brain through interactive activities, demonstrations, and games.

Tuesday March 14th from 9:30am to ~1:30pm

Ages 7 – 12: Join us to build and control a cyborg hand, build a brain, and learn how the brain adapts to injury and changes in the environment.

Ages 13 – 18: Join us to build and control a cyborg hand and to learn about visual illusions and the brain.

Friday March 17th from 9:30am to ~1:30pm

Ages 7 – 12: Join us to make music with your muscles and learn about visual illusions and the brain.

Ages 13 – 18: Join us to control a robotic claw with your brain, learn how the brain adapts to injury and changes in the environment, and discover cool facts about the brain.

Saturday March 18th from 9:30am to ~1:30pm

Ages 7 – 12: Join us to control a robotic claw with your brain, see how fast your body can move, and learn about the brain and some of its amazing abilities.

Ages 13 – 18: Join us to make music with your muscles and learn about the brain, brain injuries, and memory.
